My new tweeters arrived. OEM Blaupunkt ones. Surprised by how much they improved the overall system. The best part is they only cost me £10 for the pair including all the trim needed to fit them.

I installed a set of tweeters in my civic mostly because I had manual mirrors and upgraded to powered, and needed new cover.

never really noticed much difference in sound quality.... until, one day one of them stopped working. The difference was immediately apparent. totally worth it. They’ve since been upgraded, in the same housing, with a better quality speaker and a good crossover between them and the main speakers.

I noticed the difference as soon as I plugged them in, added much more range to the system. Haven’t passed £100 spent yet and I have a pretty good system already. Might add an amp and hidden sub some day though.

I think the main difference was raising the speaker to the right level. the tweeter is just so well placed compared to a speaker in the door firing into my leg. I certainly should have noticed the difference when I first installed them, but clearly the improved clarity was like static going away. It just sounded right. And didnt notice it until the clarity left, or in my analogy until static returned.

perhaps a factory amp and sub combo designed to fit under a seat would be a good option. A little low end without the window shaking rumble show cars seek out.

Yeah I’m thinking under seat or the ones that fit inside the spare wheel under the boot floor. I just want a bit of bass, not ridiculous car shaking volume.

while I personally prefer to feel the bass, I was very impressed with the addition of a factory under-seat option I helped my parents put into their Subaru Outback. It certainly filled the range out nicely, a good addition without being over the top.

Hmm sounds good. I’ll have to think about it more when I actually have the money to sort it out.
